The officer was traveling northbound on Queen Street when a southbound Ford pick-up truck entered the northbound lanes. The officer took evasive action and dodged the collision. The officer then made a U-Turn and initiated a traffic stop. The motorist explained that reaching for his cell phone caused him to enter the northbound lanes.
The officer determined that the 39-year-old male driver of the vehicle had consumed alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath tests.
As a result of the police investigation, Kenneth CARTER, of North Middlesex, has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
The accused's vehicle has been seized for 7 days and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on November 27, 2017.
