Guelph Police Weekend Update

On Friday, December 29, 2017 Guelph police were called to the Guelph General Hospital, where there was a report of a disturbance. Police arrived and assisted. As a result of the subsequent investigation, a 20 year old Guelph male was charged with one count of mischief under $5000, four counts of utter threats and 5 counts of breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Routine Compliance Check Results in an Arrest
On December 28, 2017 members of the Guelph Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit were conducting compliance checks relevant to the Sexual Offender’s Registry. As a result of a compliance check, police began investigating a male. This subsequent investigation lead to a 34 year old Guelph male being arrested and charged with disobey court order and breaching his probation order.
Police Arrest Wanted Male
On December 29, 2017, while on patrol, Guelph police officers observed a male in a commercial establishment in the west end of the city that was known to be wanted. The male was approached and advised he would be placed under arrest. As a result of the arrest and previous warrants of arrest, the 28 year old Guelph male is facing the following charges:
Five counts of possessing stolen property
One count of theft of motor vehicle
One count of possession of ammunition
One count of possessing a prohibited weapon
One count of theft under $5000
One count of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
Three counts of breaching a Recognizance of Bail order
One count of failing to appear in court
One count of breaching an Officer In Charge Undertaking
He was held for a bail hearing.
Break and Enter Arrest
On October 27, 2017 Guelph police initiated an investigation into a break and enter on Queen Street. As a result of this investigation, two males have been arrested. A 22 year old male was arrested two days after the incident.
On December 30, 2017, while on patrol, police observed the second male in the area of Carden Street. The 23 year old male was charged with break and enter and breaching his probation order.
Two Males Arrested for Break and Enter
On December 30, 2017 Guelph police were called to an apartment building in the west end, where there was a report of a break and enter in progress. The males fled the area upon police arrival. Police were able to locate the responsible parties and two males were arrested. A 27 and 24 year old male, both from Guelph, were jointly charged with break and enter and possessing break-in instruments. The 27 year old was further charged with possession of a controlled substance. The 24 year old is also facing further charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property and breaching his probation order. Both were held for a bail hearing.
Fire Alarm Leads to Arrest
On December 30, 2017 at 7:20pm Guelph police, along with the Guelph Fire Department, were called to a building on Surrey Street, where a fire alarm had been activated. The alarm was quickly determined to be a false alarm. Police began looking into the circumstances of the alarm. As a result of this investigation, a 30 year old Guelph woman was arrested and charged with false alarm of fire, mischief under $5000 and two counts of breaching her probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Progress – Arrest
On December 31, 2017 at 3:30am Guelph police were called to a commercial establishment on Silvercreek Parkway North as a result of a burglary alarm. Police confirmed there had been an entry into the establishment and located a male inside. The 42 year old Guelph male was arrested for break and enter. The male was identified as a person that was wanted for several outstanding charges. The male was further charged with fail to attend court and five counts of breaching his Recognizance of Bail Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Disturbance Call Leads to Arrest
On January 1, 2018 at approximately 1:20am, Guelph police were called to a commercial establishment on Ferguson Street, where there was a report of a disturbance. Police were advised there had been a fight, where one male had received injuries. This male victim was transported to the Guelph General Hosptial with non-life threatening injuries.
Brian Wheeldon, a 34 year old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was given a February 16, 2018 court date.
Downtown Disturbance – Arrest
On January 1, 2018 at 1:45am Guelph police were called to a commercial establishment on Carden Street, where there was a report of a disturbance. One male victim was transported to Guelph General Hospital and subsequently released with minor injuries. Sidney Restivo, a 22 year old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with assault. He was given a February 16, 2018 court date.
Downtown Staff Assaulted – Arrest
On January 1, 2018 at approximately 1:55am Guelph police were called to a commercial establishment on Carden Street, where there was a report that an employee had been assaulted. Police spoke to a male victim, who received minor injuries. As a result of the investigation, Kurtis Weidner, a 20 year old Mississauga male, was arrested and charged with assault. He was given a February 16, 2018 court date.
Wanted Male Arrested
On January 1, 2017 at approximately 4am, Guelph police were called to an east end residence. While on scene and dealing with an unrelated incident, police observed a male known to be wanted. The 36 year old Guelph male was immediately arrested for failing to appear in court. He was held for a bail hearing
Wanted Female Arrested
On January 1, 2018 at 6:35pm, while on an unrelated call, Guelph police officers observed a female in a downtown residence that was wanted. The 21 year old female was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and breaching her probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.
Trespass by Night – Arrest
On January 2, 2018 at approximately 2:40am, Guelph police were called to the area of Sunrise Court, where there was a report of males checking and entering vehicles. Upon police arrival, males were seen fleeing the area into backyards. After a brief foot pursuit, two males were arrested and charged. Joshua Mensah, a 19 year old Toronto male and Junior Barnett, a 21 year old Etobicoke male, were charged with trespass by night and attempt theft. Both were given a February 13, 2018 court date.
Police Requesting Assistance
On Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at approximately 3:25am a white Honda Civic, travelling on Victoria Road North, near Brant Avenue, struck a tree. There was extensive damage to the Civic. The occupants of the Civic fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Police are looking for any witnesses to this collision, or anyone who may have spoken to the occupant(s) of the Civic immediately after the collision. Break and Enter
On December 30, 2017, the Guelph Police went to an Oriole Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered and stole a purse
