Man Charged with Theft of Vehicle CK18000162
Early this morning at 3:30 a.m. the residents of an address on Shewburg Road in Ridgetown were woken up when they heard their Dodge diesel pickup truck being started and driven away from their house. Police were immediately called and given the direction that the truck was travelling in.
An officer on general patrol in the area was able to block off the roadway in the direction the pickup truck was heading. As a result, the man drove off the road and the pickup truck got stuck in the snow. The man ran from the vehicle and after a short foot pursuit, was caught by police.
At 3:40 a.m. the 31-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and charged with theft over $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
Within the last 24 hours there have been numerous motor vehicle collisions reported throughout Chatham-Kent. The majority of these collisions were not serious, meaning there were no injuries suffered and minimal vehicle damage sustained.
