Two Arrested Following Test Drive - Names Released

Officers attended the complainant's address by which time the male parties had returned from the test drive. Investigation revealed that the vehicle that the males had initially driven to the complainant's residence, bore two different Ontario Licence plates, neither of which returned to that vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the male operating the driver's seat of the vehicle for sale was under conditions not to occupy the driver's seat of a motor vehicle without being a valid licenced driver. That male then went on to provide false information as to who the second male was.
24-year-old Joseph EVANS of Guelph was arrested and charged with:
Fail to comply with conditions of undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code (C.C.) x 2
Drive motor vehicle - no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.)
Use plate not authorized for vehicle x 2 contrary to the H.T.A.
Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the C.C.
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsary Automobile Insurance Act
Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner x 5 contrary to the H.T.A.
The second male involved also provided officers with false information and investigation revealed he had driven with a suspended licence.
42-year-old Robert ANDERSON of Guelph was charged with:
Adult Personation with intent to gain advantage (Identity Fraud) contrary to the C.C.
Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the C.C.
Drive while under suspension contrary to the H.T.A.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court January 30, 2018 to answer to the charges.
