Woman Sexually Assaulted By Uber Driver - Waterloo Man Arrested

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police received a report of a woman who was sexually assaulted in the area of University Avenue and Marsland Drive in Waterloo. The woman had requested an Uber to take her to a specific location and when she arrived at the location she reported being sexually assaulted by the driver. The victim was able to struggle free of the driver and run to safety. She was treated in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident. Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service[squote]s Special Victims Branch and Major Crime Branch investigated the incident. On February 2, 2018, a 39-year-old Waterloo man was arrested and charged with several offences including, Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement and Uttering Threats.
