Fatal Pedestrian Collision Update - Deceased Identified

At approximately 6:00 p.m. Huron County OPP received an initial call from a passerby that reported there was extensive guard rail debris lying on the travelled portion of Harriston Road near Black Line. A section of the guard rail had been completely demolished from a vehicle that failed to remain on scene.
Minutes later, prior to road crews and police arrival, OPP members received a second call at the same location. A motorist had exited his vehicle and was out on the roadway inspecting the collision scene when he was struck by an oncoming eastbound pickup truck.
Huron County Paramedic Services, North Huron Fire Department and Huron OPP arrived on scene where they located a male pedestrian with vital signs absent. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as 64-year-old Douglas STAMPER from Central Huron.
The driver of the eastbound pickup truck was uninjured.
