5 More Impaired Drivers Caught

On Friday, June 29, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m, police were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 17 East. During one of the checks, it was determined a male driver had consumed alcohol. The male was arrested at the scene and transported to detachment.
Stephen WELLS, age 60 of Kenora, Ontario has been charged with Drive While Ability Impaired and Drive with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 19, 2018 to answer to the charges.
On Saturday, June 30, 2018 at approximately 4:00 p.m, the Marine and Trails Unit (MTU) were on general patrol on the Winnipeg River. Police conducted a check on a vessel and after speaking to the male driver, it was determined he had consumed alcohol and was arrested at the scene.
Daniel STRONG, age 55, from Dalles First Nation has been charged with Operate Vessel While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and Operate Vessel with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 19, 2018 to answer to the charges.
On Sunday, July 1, 2018, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Veteran's Drive for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. Upon speaking to the driver, police determined the male driver had consumed alcohol. The male was arrested at the scene and transported to detachment.
Jeremy SCHWARTZ, age 30 of Kenora, Ontario has been charged with Drive While Ability Impaired and Drive with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 19, 2018 to answer to the charges.
On Monday, July 2, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Second Street South for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. Upon speaking to the driver, police determined the male had consumed alcohol. The male was arrested at the scene and transported to detachment.
Reilly GREEN, age 26 from Kenora, Ontario has been charged with Fail or Refuse to Provide a Breath Sample. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 19, 2018 to answer to the charge.
On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at approximately 1:00 a.m, a vehicle was located idling on Fifth Street South. The Kenora OPP were dispatched to the vehicle and upon speaking to the driver it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The male driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the detachment. Kyle IRETON age 30 from Kenora, Ontario was charged with Drive While Ability Impaired and Drive with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 19, 2018 to answer to the charges.
Drivers are reminded that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one's ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan not to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or public transit, stay overnight or stay home. The OPP relies on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, call 9-1-1 and report it.
