The (white) Piper Warrior was attempting to take off from the Tobermory Airport when the 50-year-old male pilot from Kitchener made the decision to abort the take off. The plane slid sideways off the end of the runway and came to rest on the roof. Police were assisted at the scene by Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS). There were four people in total in the airplane, all the parties sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by EMS. The plane sustained significant damage as a result of the collision.
The plane had a flight plan filed to fly from Tobermory to Kitchener/Waterloo Airport. This is the second plane crash reported this year at the Tobermory Airport.
