Sometime over the long weekend in July, culprit(s) drove all terrain vehicles onto the greens of Rideau Glen Golf Course causing extensive damage. The investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on 2 July 2018, police were dispatched to Highway 416 southbound from West Hunt Club where a vehicle was observed travelling southbound in the northbound lane. This vehicle was reported to be going at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was observed by police in a construction zone travelling in the wrong direction and on the wrong side of the construction barriers. The vehicle was stopped by police and the officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage from the female driver as well as other signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to Ottawa OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test. Kyra HAGERTY, age 19 of Laurentian Hills, Ontario was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
On 4 July, 2018, police received a report of a residential break and enter on Westerra Way, North Grenville. Culprit(s) entered the home and stole jewelry and silverware. A Scenes of Crime officer attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
On 6 July, 2018, police received a report of a break and enter the at former Kemptville Public School on Reuben Crescent in Kemptville. Culprit(s) broke a window and emptied a fire extinguisher inside the building. A Scenes of Crime officer attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
On 8 July 2018, officers were conducting a RIDE program on the southbound off ramp to Highway 416 in the Municipality of North Grenville. A vehicle approached the officers at the RIDE program and an officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath. The male driver registered a "fail" on the roadside screening device. The driver was arrested and transported to Kemptville OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test. Glendon BUCK, age 43 of Barrie, Ontario was charged with driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol.
On 8 July 2018, police received a report of a break and enter at Pirate Cove Marina on Rideau River Road, North Grenville. Sometime overnight, culprit(s) stole five boat motors. The Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
