42 Year Old Charged After Hitting MTO Crash Truck

On July 9, 2018 at about 1:45 PM officers were advised of a collision involving a tractor trailer hitting a stationary occupied construction sign truck. The location was Highway 401 eastbound in Front of Yonge Township.
After an investigation, officers found that an eastbound tractor trailer struck a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) crash truck that was parked on the shoulder near Mallorytown. A 37 year old man from Edwardsburgh Township was occupying the driver's seat of the MTO truck and sustained minor injuries. Further, a 19 year old male from North Stormont Township who was working on the side of the road was struck by the tractor trailers tire. He was transported to hospital in Kingston with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 42 year old man from Richmond Hill, was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
A single lane was closed for the investigation.
