The missing female is involved in the Project Lifesaver program in Centre Hastings. As a result of Project Lifesaver, members of the OPP were able to quickly track the female using a radio frequency antenna and receiver. The female was located about kilometer away from her home approximately 16 minutes after officers arrived at the incident location. She was located lying down in a dense wooded area south of the village.
Project Lifesaver
Project Lifesaver is designed to assist families that have family members in the home suffering from cognitive disabilities such as Alzheimer's, dementia, autism and Down syndrome who have a propensity to wander. The clients wear a small wrist bracelet transmitter. Should the family member go missing the police would be able to quickly track the client using a radio frequency antenna and receiver.
Central Hastings O.P.P. Launched Project Lifesaver in November 2017 collaborating with the Hastings-Prince Edward Alzheimer's Society to bring Project Lifesaver to the Quinte Region.
