Police disperse hundreds from Thurman Circle early Monday

The initial 9-1-1 caller indicated that approximately 100 people were roaming the area throwing bottles on the street, however, when police arrived several hundred more exited houses. Some began to throw bottles at police and the windshield of one police vehicle was damaged, with an estimated cost of $500.
ďIt is extremely discouraging that a small group of students have decided to begin the school year by putting our officers and the community at risk to this degree,Ē said Supt. Chris Newton, head of the Uniformed Division. ďOur community deserves greater respect.Ē
Four people from four different Thurman Circle addresses were issued provincial offence notices for violation of City of Londonís Nuisance By-Law, which can result in a fine of up to $10,000.
