Over 80 & Open Alcohol Charges Laid In Goderich - Thomas HALLAHAN

At approximately 11:00 a.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a driver that was observed drinking alcohol inside his parked vehicle at the east end of Goderich. Police responded to the parking lot however the vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival. After extensive patrols police later located the suspect vehicle parked at another parking lot on Huron Road in Goderich.
Shortly thereafter the suspect vehicle went mobile and the headed west on Huron Road. A traffic stop was later initiated and the driver pulled over on Cambria Road. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted there was open alcohol inside the vehicle, as well it was also detected the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside test was performed, which resulted in the driver registering a fail. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for Over 80 and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Thomas HALLAHAN, 66 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol & Drive Motor Vehicle With Unsealed Container of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for October 22, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded for a week and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
