Orillia OPP Make Child Pornography Arrest

Police were first notified on August 24, 2018 of a Voyeurism complaint. As a result of the original investigation the Orillia/Barrie Crime Unit charged John MACRITCHIE, age 54, of Oro-Medonte, with Voyeurism contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code. The male was released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
As a result of the continuing investigation police have now charged the accused with Possession of Child Pornography contrary to Section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code and another charge of Voyeurism contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code.
A search warrant was conducted at a City or Barrie residence where additional devices were seized. Additional charges are pending the examination of those items.
The accused was arrested On September 26, 2018 and held in custody pending a bail hearing. He is scheduled to appear on September 27, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing.
