Passed Out Driver And 15 Year Old Facing Charges

At approximately 12:03 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to check on a vehicle that was parked on St. Patrick Street with a driver slumped over the wheel. Upon arrival an officer observed the driver to be sleeping behind the wheel while he was in care and control of his car.
Upon speaking with the adult driver the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying signs of impairment by way of a drug. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by a Drug. In addition, while police were speaking with a young passenger in the vehicle officers noticed in plain view an illegal drug along with some drug paraphernalia.
Upon arresting both males the vehicle was searched and a quantity of suspected cocaine and GHB was seized along with some stolen identification cards.
The driver was subsequently transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment whereupon completion of an examination it was deemed by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) that the driver's ability to drive a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug.
The driver, Quang TRAN, 31 years of age from London has been charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by a Drug, Possession of a Schedule I Drug - Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Drug - GHB and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 7, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
The passenger, a 15-year-old male from London has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Drug - Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Drug - GHB, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Obstruct a Peace Officer. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for today.
