Teenagers Caught With Weed

At approximately 3:00 a.m., a black sedan entered the RIDE check with three 17-year-old males. While speaking with the driver, officer's detected the odour of fresh marihuana. Investigation led to seizure of over 300 grams of cannabis.
All three occupants are from the Greater Toronto Area and were charged with Possession of Cannabis by Person Under 19-years contrary to the Controlled Cannabis Act 2017 and issued a Provincial Offence Notice. The driver received the added charge for having Cannabis Readily Available and the two passengers receiving an additional charge for Unlawfully Purchasing Cannabis.
Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone that you must be 19-years-old or older to buy, use, possess and grow recreational cannabis. This is the same as the minimum age for the sale of tobacco and alcohol in Ontario. Also, no person shall drive or have the care or control of a vehicle or boat, whether or not it is in motion, while any cannabis is contained in the vehicle or boat. With the exception being that it's in its original packaging and has not been opened or is packed in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to any person in the vehicle or boat.
