24 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Home

At approximately 11:17 p.m. on March 22, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a residence located on North Line south of Walton after the homeowner reported a vehicle had just crashed into his home.
Officers immediately responded to the scene where they located a heavily damaged sports utility vehicle and the lone occupant. Fortunate for the male driver he escaped injury however upon talking to him it was observed that he was exhibiting several signs of impairment.
He was arrested for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Claude DANFORD, 24 years of age, from Mitchell has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Impaired Operation - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for April 29, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
