At approximately 8:37 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 members from the Huron County OPP Detachment received a call about a suspected impaired driver located at the Butterfly Park at the end of Blake Street West.
Within a couple minutes officers arrived on scene to find the driver of a pickup truck had driven over the curb and had driven about 50' into the grass section of the park before he parked his truck. An officer then watched as the driver exited the vehicle and approached the officer.
The officer spoke with the driver and immediately detected the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath and also observed the driver to be displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver complied and supplied two breath samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both tests were above the legal limit.
