It has already been proven in Ontario courts that a Municipality must maintain all their roads, sidewalks and boulevards. For North Huron to change this, they must take a case past the Court Of Appeal For Ontario all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, an extremely costly endeavor.
North Huron council is apparently budgeting $200,000+ in legal fees to go to the Supreme Court of Canada so they don’t have to confront town staff regarding the neglect of infrastructure, and gross negligence by endangering Citizens by purposely blocking sidewalks in the winter.
