On August 31, 2019 at approximately 2:06 a.m. a pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was set up on Main Street South in Seaforth. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver thus prompting a roadside screening device test. The driver provided a sample of his breath and the test resulted in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP for breath tests. Both of his samples provided to the Intoxilizer Technician were found to be over the legal limit.
Darcy WILLIAMSON, 24 years of age, from Seaforth has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for September 30, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
