Just before 11:00 p.m. on September 22, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call about a possible impaired driver that was attempting to order food at a restaurant drive-thru.
Officers immediately responded to the area of the restaurant and were able to locate the suspect vehicle as it drove out onto Picton Street. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was exhibiting signs that he was under the influence of a drug. As such the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation. The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). At the end of the evaluation the DRE determined the driver was impaired by a drug. A check on the driver's licence status of the driver also determined the driver currently held a suspended driver's licence.
Mark SCOTT, 50 years of age, from Lucknow has been charged with Impaired Operation and two counts of Drive While Under Suspension. The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 21, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
