On Monday, November 11, 2019 at approximately 5:25 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to an address located on Thames Road west of Exeter after the property owner reported a suspicious person on his property. The property owner observed the suspect operating an ATV on his property and shortly thereafter the suspect was observed hiding in some bushes on the property.
As police responded to the scene the property owner went out and removed the key to the ATV thus preventing the accused from fleeing on the machine. Upon arrival officers began following the fresh tracks in the snow and mud and as they were closing in on the suspect police received a report of a suspicious male nearby on Hern Line.
Officers attended and subsequently and located the suspect. Upon checking on the male it was learned he was failing to abide by a court ordered curfew condition. Further checks also determined the ATV he was in possession of had been stolen out of Oxford County. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Jacob PATERSON, 24 years of age from Stratford, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 2, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
