Cocaine Bust - RICHARDS

On Sunday, December 1, 2019 at approximately 11:32 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a call for assistance to check on a driver that was parked on the side of Huron Road just west of Seaforth.
Officers responded to the scene where they located a male driver seated in the driver's seat sleeping inside his running vehicle. The officer also observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The investigating officer attempted to wake the sleeping male however the driver failed to respond to the officer. The officer ultimately forced entry into the vehicle and was able to arouse the sleeping male.
Upon speaking with the driver the officer located drug paraphernalia and suspected cocaine. The officer also formed the belief the driver was exhibiting signs of impairment because of a drug. As such, he was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for further examination.
Ultimately, he was examined by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) and it was determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug.
Stephan RICHARDS, 30 years of age, from Stratford has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 13, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
