The homeowner confirmed with the delivery company that the package had been delivered to their residence on February 19th.
This is the second similar theft report Perth County OPP has received in the last month. The OPP is warning residents that thieves will target parcels left at someone's home when they are not available to accept them.
The OPP recommends that anyone placing an order online, attempt to be home when the package is delivered. If this is not an option, Police suggest having a friend or a trusted neighbour be available to accept the delivery or pick it up for safekeeping.
Installing a motion-detecting security camera that records video is also an option that homeowners can consider.
If you are a victim of a parcel theft, call the OPP and the shipping company. Witnesses of a theft or suspicious activity are asked to call Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at http://hc-cs.ca where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward up to $2000.
