Traffic Stop Leads To Criminal Charges For SCHRAEDER

On Thursday, April 2, 2020 at approximately 1:15 a.m. Huron OPP officers came across a vehicle parked at the intersection of Shipley Street and Princess Street West. Upon approaching the vehicle officers located a driver passed out behind the wheel with the engine running. Officers woke up the male and while speaking with him they noticed the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug. Further observations of the vehicle resulted in officers locating drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
The driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for further examination. A Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) conducted a series of tests and the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.
Mathew SCHRAEDER, 35 years of age, from Central Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 8, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
