18 Year Old Charged At RIDE - Francis COOKE

On Sunday, September 27, 2020 at approximately 2:03 a.m. a pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was located at the intersection of Bluewater Veteran's Highway and Zurich-Hensall Road. Upon speaking with the young driver police noted he had been drinking some alcohol.
A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both tests were over the legal limit.
Francis COOKE, 18 years of age, from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above Zero, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero, Driver Fail to Surrender License and Person Under 19 years Consuming Liquor. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 19, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
