On October 19, 2024, at 3:56 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chippewas of the Thames Fire department and Oneida Nation Paramedic Service were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Jubilee Road, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.
It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result, Matthew HENRY, a 37-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 17, 2024.
The driver was not injured.
The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
