Hanover Homicide Update – BECKMAN Arrested

(HANOVER, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Hanover Police Service (HPS) have laid charges in an ongoing homicide investigation in the Town of Hanover.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m., members of the HPS responded to an incident at an address on 5th Street in Hanover. Upon arrival, officers located one person deceased, identified as Colin CAMPBELL, 57 years old of Hanover.


As a result of the investigation, William BECKMAN, 31 years old of Hanover, has been charged with first degree murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.



The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on January 13, 2025.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

OPP South Bruce Crime Unit and HPS continue the investigation under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
