Suspended Driver Arrested After Hit & Run

On December 29, 2024, at 7:39 p.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police and Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Bodkin Road in Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation for a for the report of a fail to remain single vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed a vehicle left the roadway and collided with a hydro pole and fled the area prior to police arrival.
Patrols were made by officers at which time the vehicle was located and stopped on Pheasant Drive.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result, Chad ANTONE, a 49-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Dangerous operation
· Failure to stop after accident
· Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
· Driving while under suspension
· Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle
· Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on February 3, 2025.
