FREW Facing Numerous Charges

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, shortly after 8:30 a.m., officers with the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a location on Clear Lake Road.
They found a male asleep in the drivers seat with the engine running. The individual was arrested when it was determined that he was under a lifetime driving prohibition. A search of the vehicle located break-in tools and items associated with illegal drug use. The individual was transported to the Lennox and Addington County OPP Detachment for testing.
Benjamin FREW, age 48 of Kingston, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired drugs
Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code three counts
Driving while under suspension
Operating a vehicle without insurance
Use a plate not authorized for a vehicle
Failing to apply for a permit when becoming a vehicle owner
Possession of break-in instruments
Failure to comply with an undertaking
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on January 24, 2025. The vehicle was impounded.
