Later that day, at approximately 7:25 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to the area of Holland Street West in Bradford West Gwillimbury for report of a vehicle on the road and a female asking for assistance. Through investigation, South Simcoe Police officers determined that the driver of a brown Chevrolet Malibu was impaired by alcohol and had been involved in a physical altercation with an individual that occurred prior to officers arriving on scene. The involved individuals were known to each other. As a result of the investigation, a 58-year-old female from Severn Bridge, Ontario, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (over 80), and assault. Her licence was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded. She is scheduled to appear in court on February 13, 2025.
Road safety is a shared responsibility, and it depends on the decisions you make. Impaired driving is a crime in progress. Do not drive if you will be consuming alcohol or cannabis and be sure to plan ahead to ensure you have a safe ride to and from your destination. Anyone who witnesses a suspected impaired driver is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
