The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $3,000 worth of tools were stolen from a vehicle at a south-end hotel.
Approximately 11:40 p.m. Wednesday police were called to a hotel near Laird Road and Southgate Drive. A witness had observed a male breaking into a pickup truck in the parking lot. Investigation revealed a window had been smashed to access the tools, including drills, saws, socket sets and other tools with a total value of $3,000.

Alcohol stolen
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a man stole approximately $660 worth of alcohol from a Guelph business Wednesday night.
Shortly before 9 p.m. police were called to the LCBO location on Paisley Road. An employee told police she recognized the male from previous incidents and followed him as he walked around the store selecting several bottles of alcohol and placing them in a bag. He did not speak and eventually walked out with nine bottles.
The suspect was described as a brown-skinned male, six feet tall with dark features and hair. He was wearing a black jacket, black jeans, black shoes and a balaclava and carrying a green and beige canvas bag.

Man arrested, cable recovered
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after fiber optic cable was seized following an arrest Wednesday morning.
Just before 10 a.m. an officer was patrolling on York Road near Cityview Drive when he observed a man known to be wanted for missing a court date. He was seen entering a vacant lot carrying two bags and then exiting with just one.
A 42-year-old Guelph man was arrested for failing to attend. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday. A search of the area revealed a black and green knapsack containing several pieces of fiber optic cable, which was seized for further investigation.
