Steven PURNELL – Drunk Driving

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – One individual has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in St. Clair Township.

On February 26, 2025, just after 10:15 p.m., while conducting general patrol, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on St. Clair Parkway, south of Courtright Line, St. Clair Township.

As a result of the investigation, Steven PURNELL, 57-year-old of Sombra, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 2, 2025, in the City of Sarnia.
