On February 28, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a white pickup truck driving erratically westbound on Highway 17. The vehicle was reported to have crossed into oncoming traffic before pulling into a local gas station at the east end of Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.
Officers arrived at the location and observed the vehicle with the driver seated in the drivers seat. Next to the driver, on the passenger seat, was a container containing suspected cannabis. Believing the driver to be impaired by drugs, police arrested the individual. The driver was then transported to the Blind River detachment for further testing.
Colin LIDDIARD, 52 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with: Operation while impaired drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Aprill 10, 2025.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
