Refusal To Return Construction Equipment Results In Theft Charge

On November 24, 2024, police received a report regarding a theft of a mini excavator from an address on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The caller advised that just under a month prior, the excavator was loaned to a person known to them on the condition it be returned. The machine was not returned by the accused and officers began an investigation into the matter.
On March 3, 2025, Mark BLIGHT (age 43) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, was charged with:
Theft over $5,000.
On March 4, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., OPP responded to an incident where the complainant advised they had been threatened while they were walking to their residence in Colborne in the Township of Cramahe. Officers began an investigation and an individual was sought in connection.
Brendan HALUSZKO (age 19) from the Township of Cramahe, has been charged with:
Uttering threats cause death or bodily harm.
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
