On March 5, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 11 at the intersection of Seymour Street. One of the involved drivers left the scene before police arrival.
At approximately 6:00 pm, the North Bay Police received a call for a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Booth Road and Massey Drive. Officers arrived to find the same vehicle from the earlier incident, now completely in the ditch.
While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Police detachment for further testing. A search incident to arrest led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Seann OBRIEN of Callander has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs
· Possession of a schedule I substance opioid
· Fail to remain
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 1, 2025. A 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) was issued, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP reminds all motorists that impaired driving is one of the leading causes of collisions on Ontario roads. Always plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home.
