Contraband Smuggle Charged – Name Released

(KINGSTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad has charged a Kingston resident in connection with the smuggling of contraband into the Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.

On November 28, 2024, the Penitentiary Squad, in conjunction with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), began an investigation into inappropriate activity between a staff member and an inmate. The investigation also led to the seizure of multiple contraband cell phones.

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Tiana EWAN, age 26 of Kingston was charged with:

Breach of trust – Criminal Code sec. 122
Mischief – Criminal Code sec. 430(1)(c)
Delivers contraband to an inmate – Corrections and Conditional Release Act sec. 45(d)
Possession of contraband in a penitentiary – Corrections and Conditional Release Act sec. 45(a)
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on May 27, 2025.
