On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, shortly before 9:30 a.m., an officer was on Colborne Street in Tweed when she spotted a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed in the 50-kilometer per hour zone.
The driver stopped when the uniformed officer stepped out and indicated that the person needed to pull over.
An Approved Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for additional testing.
A search of the individual and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine and suspected MDMA (ecstasy), as well as open alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Jeremy RUTTLE, age 48 of Tweed, was charged with:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance three counts
Driving with an open container of liquor
Fail to apply for a permit upon becoming a vehicle owner
Fail to surrender permit for a vehicle
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 12, 2025.
The individuals drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
