28 Year Old Facing Numerous Charges Following Hit & Run

On Monday, April 28, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Storyland Road, near Alex Lane in Horton Township. It was reported that the occupants of the vehicle were walking away from the scene.
Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle and damaged guardrails. Shortly after, both parties were located away from the collision scene on Storyland Road. Both declined medical attention.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander John HERBERT, age 28 of Renfrew was charged with:
· Careless driving
· Driver fail to surrender licence
· Fail to remain
· Fail to report damage to fence bordering highway
· Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
· Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
· Possession property obtained by crime over $5000
· Use plate not authorized for vehicle
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 11, 2025. The individuals drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police have grounds for the arrest of the female occupant.
