On June 24, 2025, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers received a radio call reporting a fail-to-remain motor vehicle collision in the area of Main Street in the Town of Shelburne.
Officers located the vehicle and driver shortly thereafter. During their interaction with the male driver, they observed signs of impairment, leading them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.
John RYDER, a 55-year-old male, from Melancthon Township has been charged with:
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
Failure to stop after accident
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their drivers licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.
