On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Cochrane Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in partnership with an MTO enforcement officer, were conducting commercial vehicle inspections at the Cochrane scales.
During the inspection of one CMV, officers detected an unsealed bag of cannabis and determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cochrane OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result, Joey LACROIX, 35 years-of-age from Moonbeam, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired drugs
· Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 9, 2025, in Cochrane. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP and MTO continue to work together to ensure the safety of Ontarios roadways through proactive commercial vehicle enforcement and impaired driving investigations.
