Shot Fired Results In Drug And Firearms Charges - KEMP

A witness reported hearing what they believed to be a gun shoot from a rural property. Sometime later, that same witness observed a male in possession of a firearm and interacting with persons in a threatening manner. The witness then contacted police and reported this behaviour. Police confirmed that no one was injured while interacting with the male suspect.
Multiple police units arrived and attempted to make contact with the male suspect without success. As a result, the OPP West Region (WR) Emergency Response Team (ERT), WR Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and WR Mobile Support Unit (MSU) were deployed to the area.
On February 12, 2018 at approximately 1:45 a.m., members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested an adult male in regards to this event. No one was injured.
As a result of this police investigation, 51-year-old male, Robert KEMP of Thames Centre, Ontario has been charged with the following offences pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
CC 86(1) Careless Use of Firearm
CC 87 Pointing a Firearm
CC 264.1(1)(a) Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
CDSA 4(1) Poss of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis - over 30 grams
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to make a video appearance in court on February 15, 2018.
