Heroes Assaulted After Chasing Down Theft Suspect - David Daniel MINER Facing Numerous Charges

On Saturday, April 28, 2018 at approximately 7:32 a.m., police were contacted by a resident reporting a theft.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at approximately 6:45 a.m., an owner of a property attended the address in order to check on an outbuilding. Upon arrival, a male was observed leaving the area on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with some of the owner's property. The owner, along with another Good Samaritan pursued the male into a field at which time they became involved in a verbal altercation which then turned into a physical confrontation.
The male subsequently fled from the area prior to officer's arrival however he was later taken into custody without incident.
As a result of police investigation, the OPP charged 30-year-old David Daniel MINER of Norfolk County, Ontario with the following offences:
Assault with a weapon
Assault with intent to resist arrest
Wear a disguise with intent
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Possession of break-in tools
Mischief Under $5,000
Escape lawful custody
Fail to comply with probation order
He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Simcoe at a later date.
