20 Year Old Drunk Driver Involved In Collision - One Extricated

The investigation, thus far has revealed, that a 4-door Chevrolet car was travelling northbound on Highway 59, when it crossed into oncoming traffic. A 4-door Hyundai car was southbound on Highway 59, turned to avoid the oncoming car but was struck and came to rest in a ditch. The Chevrolet car left the roadway and struck a tree.
As a result of the collision, the adult female driver of the Hyundai was extricated, and was transported to area hospital with serious injuries. The adult male passenger of the Hyundai was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
East Zorra-Tavistock Fire Department (Hickson) and Oxford County Paramedics assisted at the scene. The roadway was closed for several hours for the investigation.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Christopher WHETSTONE, 20 years-of-age, of Woodstock was arrested and the scene and charged with the following offences:
Driving While Ability Impaired - Cause Bodily Harm (2 counts)
Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 Milliliters of blood.
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Cause Bodily Harm (2 counts)
A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were issued, and he is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice- Woodstock on July 24, 2018 in order to answer to the charges.
