(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Sunday August 15, 2018, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting Lidar speed enforcement and monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a black automobile northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on Lidar in excess of 140 km/h.
21-year-old Mohamed ALY of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on September 19, 2018 and his driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
