On Saturday, August 11, 2018 at approximately 12:05 a.m. Huron County OPP members were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checks at the intersection of Front Road and Kinburn Line when a female driver dangerously drove toward the officers at the checkpoint. The driver failed to stop for the officers and sped away at a high rate of speed. Officers didn't give chase, however, shortly thereafter the same vehicle returned to the area of the checkpoint and took off once again. This time upon fleeing the driver collided with a bridge and continued westbound on Front Road.
A short time later police located the suspect vehicle parked at a Currie Line property in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. West Region OPP Canine attended the scene and with their assistance the female driver was located hiding in a nearby barn.
