At approximately 12:01 p.m. on April 4, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a vehicle that was being operated in an erratic manner in the Town of Goderich. The concerned citizen contacted police and followed the motor vehicle to a business located on Cambria Road North. At the parking lot the suspected impaired driver collided with a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival, police located the suspect driver and made some observations that led them to believe the female driver had been drinking alcohol. As a result, the driver provided a sample of her breath into an approved screening device and the results of her test resulted in a fail.
She was immediately placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. She provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of her samples registered over the legal limit.
Linda WHITWORTH, 64 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. She was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 6, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. Her vehicle was impounded and her licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
