Methamphetamine Bust In Belgrave - Michael GREER Facing Numerous Charges

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on September 2, 2019 a compact car entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program that was set up in Belgrave at the intersection of Queen Street and Belgrave Road.
Upon speaking with the two vehicle occupants the investigating officer directed the occupants out of the vehicle to conduct a search of the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act. As the passenger exited the vehicle he dropped a vial of suspected fentanyl onto the ground. At this point the investigating officer attempted to arrest the accused however he immediately bolted and began running northbound away from the officer. The officer gave chase and was able to catch up with the accused. Upon trying to arrest the accused a brief struggle ensued whereupon the officer was assaulted. A back up officer arrived on scene and the accused was eventually taken into custody.
A search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of vials of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, cash, drug paraphernalia and bear spray.
Michael GREER, 31 years of age, from Wingham has been charged with the following offences:
Escape Lawful Custody
Resist Peace Officer
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking - Fentanyl
Possession of Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Assault Peace Officer
He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 9, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
