Foul Play Not Suspected In Fatal ATV Incident

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on October 21, 2019, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a wooded area located south of Thames Road West. Upon arrival, officers accessed a steep embankment adjacent to the railroad tracks, whereupon they located a deceased person laying underneath an all-terrain vehicle.
Investigators from the Huron County OPP Major Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
A post-mortem examination has been completed, however, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed at this time.
This investigation is being conducted under the direction of Detective Inspector Pete Liptrott of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
