Repeat Offenders Arrested Again Near Seaforth - Methamphetamine A Factor - Katherine UPSHALL & Michael CHAPMAN

On Saturday, May 2, 2020 at approximately 11:53 a.m. Huron OPP officers were patrolling on Manley Line when they observed a pickup truck pulling a recreation trailer without an attached licence plate. A traffic stop was initiated and upon doing so the driver accelerated and failed to stop for police. Officers were able to catch up with the vehicle at a stop sign however the driver once again disregarded the orders to stop and proceeded to take off. Officers followed after the vehicle until it eventually pulled into a laneway on Huron Road.
At that point the driver was immediately taken into custody. A search incident to arrest of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and a spring loaded knife.
Katherine UPSHALL, 45 years of age from Huron East has been charged with the following offences:
Flight from Peace Officer
Dangerous Operation
Operation While Prohibited
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
Drive While Under Suspension
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
Drive Motor Vehicle No Permit
Draw Trailer No Permit
Insecure Load
Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
The passenger, Michael CHAPMAN, 50 years of age from Huron East has been charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order
Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
Both accused have since been released from custody with court appearances scheduled for June 29, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
